BACKGROUND ON ARTIST/ALBUM:
Sanzkrit are an Indie-rock four-piece from County Monaghan.
The band create a unique sound, where bold pop
melodies toy with a dark undercurrent of moody
rhythms and progressive structures. The soundscapes
are countered by imaginative lyrics that craft
a world of colourful introspect anchored by a metaphoric
expressionism that always holds relevance and social
commentary at it’s heart.
Sanzkrit have always proved a big hit amongst
underground scensters and online bloggers, but
now with big players like Today FM and The Irish
Times heralding Sanzkrit on their band of the year
lists and an explosive set at Electric Picnic 2008
still fresh in the memory, their steady rise to
the top has gathered pace. 2009 has seen the band’s first single Talk of the
Town take over the airwaves nationwide, resulting
in the single charting at No. 3 in the Irish download
charts. Second single Futila looks set to better
that achievement. And as the hype continues to build,
there seems to be a genuine excitement surrounding
their forthcoming debut album, and an overall feeling
that Sanzkrit are not just another “next big
thing” band, but something far more special. |
About the forthcoming
album: “After the Wedding” the
debut album from Sanzkrit will hit shops this
September, showcasing both Futila and previous
single Talk of the Town. A limited edition digi-pak
version will house a 24 page colour booklet and
will include an exclusive hidden track called “You’ve
changed man!” The album’s artwork,
as with all of the bands releases is meticulously
and lovingly designed by singer Dave Marron,
and will feature Sanzkrit’s trademark blue-black-white
colour palette.
Musically, “After
the Wedding” will host live favourites like
the politically charged “Croppies Acre”,
the dancey up-beat alt-country of “Slow Smiles & Perfume” and
the brooding epic “Berlin” with it’s
gigantic orchestral sounds. New tracks like “Uber
Alt Rip” will also feature, opposite more
familiar songs from the live catalogue ranging
from the synthy electronica of two minute indie-raver “Leave
the Lights on” to the bravado scorched innocence
of pop-rock gem “Carnivore”. In every
corner of “After the Wedding”, a feast
of forward thinking pop awaits you. The album will
be available nationwide on September 11th.
